About the Girl
My name is Marti Johnson and am originally from Middleburg, Florida. I graduated from Belmont University with a degree in Sociology and have since accepted a full time position in Kampala, Uganda with Touch the World Uganda.
My interest in Uganda began several years ago when I discovered the truth of the struggling nation. After a few years of participating in grassroots campaigns, I traveled to Uganda as a short term missionary. The rest is history....
My responsibilities with TTWU include teaching discipleship, assisting short term missionaries, and helping to manage our child sponsorship program. Additionally, I direct Project {Perspective}, a photography program run inside St. Mary Kevin Orphanage designed to provide the world with a new perspective of African youth and build a platform for change.
While my work in Uganda is central to my life, I hold a variety of other interests. During my time at Belmont University I was blessed with the opportunity to study our criminal justice system from the inside out by spending time in the prisons every week. This led me to develop a passion for prison reform and abolishing the death penalty.
I also interned for a homelessness outreach organization, worked in a inner city resource center, and volunteered with refugee resettlement programs. These experiences culminated an interest in domestic social justice issues. The desire of my heart is to be used as an instrument of justice for God’s Kingdom where ever He choses to place me.
